Covid routs health centres

Covid routs health centres MASERU-AT least 20 workers at church-run health centres in Lesotho tested positive for Covid-19 between Christmas and New Year’s Day, as the pandemic begins to wreak havoc in the country. The clinics and hospitals are run by the Christian Health Association of Lesotho (CHAL). The affected health centres are Scott Hospital in Morija, Tebellong Hospital in Qacha’s nek, Motsekuoa health centre in Mafeteng and Emmaus health centre also in Mafeteng. The infections have forced the health centres to scale down operations and are now offering emergency services only in an attempt to protect both staff and clients, said CHAL acting director, Libete Selapane.

World Vision donates critical PPE in the fight against COVID-19

Monday, January 11, 2021 January 6th, 2021 -  Officials from World Vision, the Government of Ghana and the health sector held a ceremony at World Vision s offices in Accra, to carry out the distribution of critical Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The event was part of an ongoing efforts by World Vision and its partners to curb the COVID-19 pandemic. The donation, worth just under USD 125,000 (GHC 743,368) in PPE, is a collective effort to support the Ghanaian Government to halt further spread of the disease. At the ceremony, Mrs. Efua Ghartey, Board Chair of World Vision in Ghana, mentioned the importance of supporting Government through PPE to curb the outbreak of COVID-19: “Our presence today is an indication of World Vision s position that the fight against COVID-19 is not yet over. Ghana will ensure safety of Coronavirus vaccines – Dr DaCosta LISTEN JAN 6, 2021 The Head of Risk Communication and Community Engagement for Ghana s Covid-19 Response, Dr Aboagye DaCosta has assured Ghanaians that the country will make sure COVID-19 vaccines are safe. Responding to research by the finder newspaper of scepticisms, misinformation and myths by Ghanaians and their unreadiness to take the COVID-19 vaccine, Dr DaCosta said the country has capable institutions to make sure Ghana receives safe doses of vaccines. “When you get such a vaccine, we have rules and laws in this country so we will route it through the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) to make sure that the safety and its efficacy is guaranteed”, he highlighted. According to him, the FDA, together with the Ghana Standard Authority and the Ghana Pharmaceutical Council, in the past years have approved a lot of safe vaccines and would have the capacity to do same with COVID-19 vaccines.
