Five New COVID-19 Deaths Recorded In Christian County

The Christian County Health Department reported five new COVID-19 deaths in the county as of March 31. According to the health department, the deaths include a 55-year-old Caucasian female, a 90year-old Caucasian male, a 68-year-old Caucasian female, a 78-year-old Caucasian female, and an 81-year-old Caucasian female. The health department said all the victims had underlying health conditions. Christian County added 13 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday afternoon. The active case count dropped to 154 with 94 of the cases in the 22 to 59 age group, with 33 cases between the ages of birth and 21, 26 cases in the 60 to 84 age range, and one case in the 85 and older category.

Needle exchange program begins Tuesday

The Christian County Health Department announced the beginning of The Exchange, an anonymous and confidential needle exchange program that will start on April 6 from 1-3 p.m., continuing every Tuesday. According to the press release, participants can receive free HIV and HEP C testing, change used needles for new, clean needles and receive valuable resources. The program will take place at CCHD. The CCHD Board of Health voted in June 2020 to approve the program after seeing success from the Hopkins County Health Department’s similar program. Hopkins County Health Department Director Denise Beach expressed their program’s success to the CCHD board meeting in June 2020.

CCHD reports 11 new COVID-19 cases, vaccine clinics in April

Hopkinsville, KY, USA / WHOP 1230 AM | News Radio Apr 1, 2021 4:31 PM The Christian County Health Department reported 11 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday, and announced new vaccine clinics happening in April. Those 11 new cases brings the overall total up to 6,611 of that, 165 cases are considered active and 6,356 people have recovered from the virus.  Christian County has had 90 COVID-19 related deaths. The health department will be offering Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccines at four different clinics, starting on April 14 at the Christian County Senior Center at 10 a.m., then at Virginia Street Baptist that same day from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.  A clinic will take place at the Boys and Girls Club on April 21 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. and then the final clinic in April will be April 28 at the Salvation Army from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
