The Christian County Clerk’s Office will host a flag-raising event Monday morning.
The event is a part of Donate Life Month, every April, to help the public learn about the organ donor registry. The Donate Life Flag will be featured at the Christian County Justice Center on Justice Way in Hopkinsville Monday morning at 10:08.
During the event, Hopkinsville Mayor Wendell Lynch and Christian County Judge-Executive Steve Tribble will present a proclamation and lead in a 1 minute 8 second moment of silence, representing that one donor can save eight lives.
The Clerk’s office will also raffle off a home decor item donated by Cayce Mill Supply, with the proceeds to be donated to the Circuit Court Clerk’s ‘Trust For Life’ to promote organ donor awareness in Kentucky.

The Hopkinsville Municipal Center and the Christian County Courthouse will both be reopening to the public on Monday following closures since last year because of the coronavirus pandemic, local officials said.
Social distancing and masks will be required as precautions against spreading COVID-19.
The courthouse, which houses the Christian County Clerk’s Office at 511 S. Main St., will be open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. A limited number of people at a time will be allowed inside the courthouse.
“We anticipate long lines,” Deputy County Clerk Melinda Humphries said.
Anyone renewing a vehicle tag may avoid a long wait by using the state’s online renewal site, she said.
After the COVID-19 pandemic led to businesses closing to the public early last year, the Kentucky state government began providing COVID relief funding in the form of reimbursements through the CARES Act.
Locally, Christian County Fiscal Court received around $3.2 million through the CARES Act for county reimbursements after the city was forced to spend extra funding due to the ongoing pandemic.
Of that $3.2 million, the Christian County Sheriffâs Office received a majority of that relief funding. Specifically, CCSO was given $2,191,025.45 in reimbursements from the Fiscal Court between March, 2019 and now, according to County Treasurer Walter Cummings.
Following the relief funds being disbursed, a misconception began floating around that because CCSO received roughly $2 million from the Fiscal Court, that freed up the Sheriffâs Officeâs budget money to be spent elsewhere.
