The PUC announced last week that the project has received approval from the Ontario Energy Board.
“This is an incredibly important project for our community,” said Mayor Christian Provenzano. “Energy is certainly an industry of today and will have a significant impact on our future . . . Our ability to be innovative and to be a leader is critical. I think this project helps us get there.”
Frankly, this is a health care issue, Provenzano said. And the health care that people badly need is not available for them It simply has to be addressed and we can t take any more time to address it or we ll lose more lives unnecessarily.
Compounding the problem of having a deadly opioid circulating in communities, is the outdated infrastructure that health teams need to deal with underlying issues. The reality of my community and many communities in northern Ontario, is that the health care infrastructure does not exist and is not being invested in by our other levels of government, he said.

PUC Distribution announced today that the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) has approved its application to build the $34 million Sault Smart Grid Project.
A news release issued today by PUC Distribution Inc. states that this project is the first of its kind in Canada and is expected to impact how other utilities across the country look at smart grid systems.
The project will not only help customers save on their monthly bill but it will also help the utility better prepare for emergencies such as black outs and storms and through its “self-healing” technology reduce the duration and number of outages, said PUC President and CEO Rob Brewer in the release.
