Staten Island coronavirus deaths cross grim milestone in Dec.; hospitalizations drop 2nd day

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. More than 100 Staten Islanders have died this month from coronavirus (COVID-19) complications, the latest city Health Department data shows.
Another eight deaths reported Wednesday afternoon increased the borough’s overall suspected COVID-19 death toll to 1,238 including 107 in December.
At the same time, 324 new confirmed coronavirus cases were reported on Staten Island in the past 24 hours, according to the most recent data available.
An additional 243 were recorded from Monday to Tuesday.
The fatalities include 1,043 Staten Islanders with confirmed COVID-19 cases, up six from Tuesday.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Three more Staten Islanders have succumbed to the coronavirus, increasing the borough’s suspected COVID-19 death total for December to 99, city Health Department data shows.
At the same time, 243 new confirmed coronavirus cases were reported on Staten Island in the past 24 hours, according to the most recent data available.
Meanwhile, coronavirus hospitalizations here, which have fluctuated over the past 10 days to two weeks, dipped by seven, one day after rising by nine.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. The coronavirus is believed to have killed five more Staten Islanders, raising the borough’s suspected COVID-19 death total for the month of December to 96, city Health Department data shows.
At the same time, 258 new confirmed coronavirus cases were reported on Staten Island in the past 24 hours, while hospitalizations increased by nine, according to the most recent data available.
As of 1 p.m. Monday, 1,227 borough residents are believed to have succumbed to the coronavirus.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Five more Staten Islanders have succumbed to the coronavirus, raising the borough’s suspected COVID-19 death total for the month of December to 70, city Health Department data shows.
At the same time, 253 new confirmed coronavirus cases were reported in the borough in the past 24 hours, while hospitalizations rose slightly, according to the most recent data available.
As of 1 p.m. Thursday, the virus is believed to have claimed the lives of 1,201 Staten Islanders.
Monday’s COVID-19 data: Hospitalizations increase slightly, new cases continue to climb

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. While the first doses of the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine were administered Monday on Staten Island, new cases and hospitalizations once again climbed on the borough as the country’s death toll surpassed 300,000.
There were 235 new cases reported since Sunday, according to city Health Department data, after 277 positive tests were tallied between Saturday and Sunday.
In total, 25,350 borough residents have tested positive for the virus, the data shows.
As of 1 p.m. Monday, 1,188 borough residents are believed to have succumbed to the disease, which represented a drop of two from yesterday’s total when seven new deaths were initially considered “probable.”
