Misfortune has seemingly been following Team USA this summer. Following two straight underwhelming performances and exhibition losses, Bradley Beal entered health and safety protocols, sidelining him for the entirety of the Olympic Games. Sixers’ star Tobias Harris could replace him.
According to Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Team USA is gauging the availability of Harris as the next call-up.
The United States men’s basketball team inquired Thursday about 76ers forward Tobias Harris’ availability to replace Bradley Beal in the Tokyo Olympics.
Following Beal’s sudden absence, USA was going to be in desperate need for consistent scoring. With Harris hypothetically joining the team, it’s one less concern for the team to be worried about. The Sixers forward had a fantastic year last season, nailing a career-high 51.2% of his shots, hitting 39.4% of his three-pointers to boot.
Report: Rockets Christian Wood could be a replacement for Bradley Beal on Team USA

The Houston Rockets are coming off a disastrous 17-win 2020-21 campaign and boast three picks in the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft. Among them, Houston is slated to select No. 2 overall.
Assuming Cade Cunningham goes No. 1 to the Detroit Pistons, general manager Rafael Stone and the Rockets would still have a ton of options with the second selection. They could go with stud wing Jalen Green or look to improve in the frontcourt with USC big Evan Mobley.
There’s also a scenario in which the Rockets trade up with Detroit for the first pick.
