With a continued shortage of bus drivers in the Killeen Independent School District, anyone interested in driving a school bus can attend the districtâs âRoad to CDLâ seminar Friday.
All bus drivers must possess a commercial driverâs license. The seminar will provide information for how to obtain the training and the license for free, the district said in a news release.
The seminar begins at 6 p.m. Friday in the board room of the KISD administration building, 200 N. W.S. Young Drive.

Voting has been moderate to heavy since Monday in early voting for the local May 1 elections, with the early votng period set to wrap up Tuesday.
In the Killeen Independent School District election, which involves two board seats, 1,458 voters cast ballots in the first five days of early voting.
In the Killeen City Council election, where four district seats are on the ballot, 799 ballots were cast through five days of early voting.
Elections are on tap on May 1 across the area, with voters from Killeen, Lampasas, Kempner, Florence, Salado and Belton casting ballots for candidates in several different races.
In Killeen, there are 13 candidates, including two incumbents, seeking election to the four district seats on the city council.
There have been 1,737 positive cases of the coronavirus among both students and staff within the Killeen Independent School District since March, as of Friday.
At the elementary level, 370 students and 446 staff have tested positive. At KISD middle schools, 219 students and 144 staff have tested positive, and 279 students and 145 staff have tested positive at high schools, according to the district’s COVID-19 dashboard, https://www.killeenisd.org/dashboard.
A total of 128 staff members have tested positive at KISDâs non-campus buildings.
At least two teachers have died from complications with the virus.
There were 20 active cases of the virus â 14 students and six staff members â in the district as of Friday, according to KISD. KISD keeps track of the active cases, by school, on its website.
