TRUEVINE, Va. – AJ Reeves, the man whose 80-year-marriage with his wife Lillie was recognized as the longest in Virginia, has passed away.
AJ and Lillie Reeves of Truevine celebrated their 80th wedding anniversary on Jan. 25. They were married in Sontag on January 25, 1941. They have lived in the home AJ built since its completion in 1951, 70 years ago.
The couple was recognized in the U.S. House of Representatives Congressional Record as the 2019 Virginia winners of Worldwide Marriage Encounter’s Longest Married Couple Project. At the time recognized, AJ was 105 years old and Lillie was 96.

‘Community safety danger’ reported in Poconos gunfire, mayor says

Shooting suspects were said to be at large Monday evening in the Pocono Mountains after a series of incidents left multiple people injured, officials said.
Pennsylvania State Police on Monday night shared a Monroe County Office of Emergency Management alert advising residents to shelter in place and report any suspicious activity.
The incidents began shortly before 5:30 p.m., according to emergency broadcasts. The crime scenes spanned communities in Coolbaugh and Tobyhanna townships, Mount Pocono Borough officials said a posting on Mayor Michael Penn’s Facebook page.
“Rapid gunfire was reported in A Pocono Country Place, at the Dollar General store in Tobyhanna, at Stoogies on Route 196, and at multiple locations,” Penn posted with borough council President Claudette Williams at 7:30 p.m.

At least four people were injured Monday following shootings at multiple locations in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, according to Mount Pocono Borough Mayor Michael Penn.
The incidents began shortly before 5:30 p.m., according to emergency broadcasts from officials in Monroe County in the Poconos region. The crime scenes spanned communities in Coolbaugh and Tobyhanna townships, Mount Pocono Borough officials said in a posting on Penn’s Facebook page.
As of 10 p.m., Penn had posted in an update that no suspects are in custody yet, and police are asking residents in the area to shelter in place and report suspicious activity. The incidents were being reported by multiple news outlets, including Lehigh Valley Live.
