Las Vegas police said Wednesday that the body of 2-year-old Amari Nicholson had been found one day after arresting a man in connection with the child's disappearance.

Amari went missing in early May, and volunteers have been searching ever since.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police confirmed the boy’s body was located near the 400 block of E. Twain Avenue near Paradise Road.
“This investigation is ongoing,” the department wrote in a tweet. “The cause and manner of death will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.”
Authorities said that Terrell Rhodes was arrested on murder charges in connection to the case. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center.
Rhodes was identified by family members as the boyfriend of Amari’s mother. He made his first court appearance Wednesday and was held without bond, reported News3LV.

Amari Nicholson was last seen May 5, according to Lt. Richard Meyers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. This case started out as a missing persons investigation, and, unfortunately, I m here to tell you today that it is now a homicide, Meyers said Tuesday evening.
Terrell Rhodes, 27, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the killing of Amari, authorities said. Rhodes identified himself as the boyfriend of Amari s mother in a pre-arrest interview with CNN affiliate KVVU.

Frank Anthony Ruggirello of Clinton, Mich., was arrested Tuesday. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in a Las Vegas court on Sept. 16 for a preliminary hearing, according to the
Las Vegas Review-Journal.
On Monday evening, a security officer at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino phoned the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department about a potential assault. A woman staying at the hotel had told a lifeguard at the pool that she had been sexually assaulted. The MGM Grand is the green-tinted resort at the southeastern end of the Strip near McCarran International Airport.
