Police responded to a report of gunfire at the Strat Hotel, Casino, and SkyPod at about 10 pm on Friday, and discovered the man dead in a hotel room, according to Lt. Ray Spencer of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Spencer is a homicide detective with the combined city-county police department, known locally as Metro.

An inmate has died following an alleged strangulation by his cellmate in a Las Vegas jail, according to city police.
While conducting a routine walkthrough, a corrections officer at the Clark County Detention Center found the unresponsive body of a 59-year-old man lying in his cell.
Metropolitan Police confirmed in a news release on Thursday that the man was named Blancy Yonko.
Yonko was taken to a trauma centre at the University Medical Centre in a critical condition, where he died of his injuries on Tuesday.

The husband of a 34-year-old soldier stationed at Fort Irwin National Training Center is behind bars on suspicion of murder after the woman was found dead at their home earlier this month.
Authorities arrested Ervin Padgett, 37, in Las Vegas on Dec. 2 after he was discharged from a hospital, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement released Monday.
Sheriff’s spokesperson Jodi Miller said Padgett is expected to be extradited to San Bernardino County this week.
