Jefferson man charged with murder in slaying at Athens apartments

A Jackson County man was charged Friday with the December slaying of one man and the shooting of another at Rolling Ridge Apartments in Athens. Athens-Clarke police Lt. Shaun Barnett said Christopher Tryone Rollins, 30, of Jefferson is charged with murder in the slaying of Quamick Malik Aziz, 27, of Athens. Rollins also faces a charge of aggravated assault for wounding 22-year-old Deundre Moses, 22, of Athens. Rollins, who is in jail without bond, is also charged with possession of a firearm during a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. “While an arrest has been made, our investigation is still ongoing so we are not releasing a motive,” Barnett said. “Investigators are confident they know the motive.”
