Come get free trees at Arbor Day Celebration this week in Clarksville

Shutterstock CLARKSVILLE, TN – The Clarksville Tree Board and Clarksville Parks & Recreation’s Forestry Division will host the annual Arbor Day Celebration this week by giving away 1,100 bare-root tree seedlings. The drive-through event will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, March 5, at the Smith-Trahern Mansion, 101 McClure St. The Montgomery County Master Gardeners will be on-site to assist in the distribution. For safety, participants are asked to remain in their vehicles. Volunteers will approach each vehicle to obtain the tree order. Seedlings are limited to five per person. “As trees grow, they help stop climate change,” said Kathrine Killebrew, city forester of Clarksville Parks & Recreation Department. “Trees provide many benefits to us every day. We encourage all citizens to be a positive part of a great change. ”

CLARKSVILLE , TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville Parks & Recreation is inviting the public to participate in the first-ever Burt-Cobb Break Out: Escape Room. Burt-Cobb Recreation Center has put together an in-house interactive escape room. Participants will work together to find clues and solve riddles to help the Burt-Cobb Alumni Association save their reunion within the allotted time, according to a news release from Clarksville Parks and Recreation. “Your experience will be challenging, tricky, and fun,” said Penny Greene, Assistant Manager of Burt-Cobb Recreation Center. “Our Escape Room will keep you on your toes every step of the way.” The Burt-Cobb Escape Room is open to ages 13 and older. Masks are required and groups can range from four to eight people. The sessions will begin on Feb. 19 and will go through Aug. 28 on various Fridays and Saturdays, according to the release. Registration is $5 per person and available at ClarksvilleParksRec.com.

Chocolate Affair rescheduled for April 17 in Clarksville

(CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville Parks & Recreation has announced Chocolate Affair: A Celebration of Cocoa, originally set for Saturday, Feb. 6, has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 17. The Wilma Rudolph Event Center will remain the site for the sweet and savory affair with two sessions available, 3-4:30 p.m. and 6:30-8 p.m. At the event, local businesses and caterers serve samples of various foods and desserts, all requiring the use of chocolate in some form. The 2021 Chocolate Affair is being adapted to adhere to COVID-19 precautions and guidelines. This year’s event will be a Chocolate Affair stroll. Participants will be given a carry-out sample box and will walk from vendor to vendor and receive samples delicious chocolate of all kinds. After someone has visited all vendors, they will exit the building.

Clarksville Now CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Do you think you’re a super sleuth? Can you solve mysteries like a true detective? Clarksville Parks & Recreation is inviting the public to participate in the first-ever game of Clarksville CLUE! Clarksville CLUE , based on the popular murder mystery game, takes place along the Clarksville Greenway. Clues will be placed along the trail and participants must find them to solve the murder mystery. “Our fictional victim, Mary Mischief, has been on the loose canceling programs, events, and ruining all the fun,” said Tiffany Rogers, Recreation Programmer for Clarksville Parks and Recreation. “We suspect that someone in the Parks & Recreation had enough and we’re asking the public to join the fun and find the culprit.”
