CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System has mapped out an extensive summer plan to combat student learning loss that occurred because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
At Tuesday’s School Board meeting, Sean Impeartrice, chief academic officer for CMCSS, presented plans to use federal funding to address the issue.

At the start of the 2020-21 year, the school system ran an evaluation of student skills, and Impeartrice said there was no evidence of learning loss at that time. This was in part because many of the standardized lessons had been taught prior to the March 13 districtwide closures.

Constance Brown, president of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Association, said Monday night she supports the Montgomery County Commission’s 2021-22 school budget amendment which includes a hefty raise for director of schools Millard House and a two percent raise for Clarksville public school teachers.
Not because the proposal is perfect. Because it’s a step in the right direction. I do believe in this school system, said Brown, who represents 1,200 members, including 1,100 local teachers. And I do believe that their intentions are good and they will take the steps necessary to start moving teachers salaries where they need to be as income allows.
