We came dangerously close to losing it.
For a while, it was the only area of our community which had a decline in tax base and economic value.

From Downtown Commons to the multipurpose events center (MPEC) under construction, and over to the planned Roxy performing arts center, there is no shortage of intrigue in the current wave of revitalization in historic downtown.

Clarksville NowAPSU, ContributedDominique Brockman gives her mother, Beatrix Brockman, the COVID-19 vaccine at Austin Peay State University in March 2021.
CLARKSVILLE, TN – Last week, Austin Peay State University nursing faculty and students started giving Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine shots to eligible members of the Clarksville-Montgomery County community. But one shot stood out.
Nursing student Dominique Brockman gave the shot to her mother, Austin Peay languages and literature professor Beatrix Brockman.
Before she poked her mom in the arm, Dominique said she was “terrified.” But those feelings eased.
“I learned through this process that it’s not as terrifying as I thought to give a shot to your family member,” she said.
