ANSONIA (AP) A police officer in Connecticut shot a man in the leg Monday after witnessing that person fire at a passing car, authorities said.
The officer, a member of the Derby Police Department, was stopped at a traffic light in Ansonia on the town line at about 7 a.m. when two pedestrians approached his cruiser and began banging on his windows, asking for assistance, Derby Police Chief Jerry Narowski said.
The men complied with the officer’s request to step back onto the curb, before one of them pulled a gun and fired at a passing car, Narowski said.
