CLEVELAND, Ohio Dinosaurs that once made the earth tremble are about to bust out of the windowless galleries they occupy deep inside the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. The latest plans for a $150 million expansion and renovation show that the fossilized skeleton of a 70-foot-long Haplocanthosaurus delfsi, known as “Happy,’ will stride through a big, new light-filled lobby, just off Wade Oval in University Circle.

Double-crested cormorants are a fish eating water bird native to Ohio. A bird thriving in Lake Erie is causing challenges for other species. The federal government has a plan to address the problem by eliminating some of the double-crested cormorants. They are a primarily fish eating water bird native to Ohio. They nest in denser numbers which can cause damage to vegetation used as habitats for birds such as herons and egrets. Fishermen also take issue with the birds, as they affect Ohio’s aquaculture production. Mark Shieldcastle is the research director at Black Swamp Bird Observatory. He also worked for the Ohio Division of Wildlife when they began killing cormorants, reducing the population to lessen their impact on other wildlife. He says although they would rather not have to, it is the best option in most cases.

The muzzleloader season ends Tuesday, 30 minutes after sunset.  To legally take a deer, licensed and permit-holding hunters may use a muzzleloading rifle, .38 caliber or larger, or a muzzleloading shotgun, 10 gauge or smaller using one ball per barrel. Bows also are legal.
