‘Rock Camp: The Movie’ and ‘My Little Sister’ top this week’s streaming movies at Cleveland Cinemas and Cinematheque

CLEVELAND, Ohio For all of those weekend warrior musicians, the new film “Rock Camp: The Movie” provides a summer camp-meets-”Spinal Tap” experience.
The documentary feature wannabe rock stars from around the world meeting and learning from their heroes and camp counselors such as Roger Daltrey, Alice Cooper, Gene Simmons, Jeff Beck and Slash. It premiers online Jan. 15, via virtual screening rooms at both The Cleveland Institute of Art’s Cinematheque and Cleveland Cinemas.

Cain Park Arts Festival is planning an in-person return in 2021. (Google maps)
CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH The Cain Park Arts Festival plans to return in July with an in-person event.
The beloved local festival is scheduled for July 9-11, but is subject to any pandemic restrictions. Organizers are now accepting applications for artists looking to exhibit their work during the event.
Arts Festival Director George Kozmon said the plan is to streamline the event in 2021 to ensure attendee safety.
Subscribe Beyond the normal logistics of holding the festival, we are focused on safe interaction between our exhibiting artists and the audience, he told Patch in an email. Applications for interested artists will be accepted until March 5.

Three years ago, Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish faced no Democratic primary challengers and easily defeated a weak and underfunded Republican challenger. With evidence now overwhelming that Budish cannot lead this county effectively, that cannot happen next year when Budish could seek a third term. Now is the time for serious Democratic and Republican candidates to start building their support and campaign war chests to run for county executive.
The latest example of the Budish administration’s ineffective, unresponsive stewardship is its approach to vetting sheriff’s candidates in seeming denial of a new charter requirement.

CLEVELAND, Ohio The Cleveland Cinemas (Cedar Lee, the Capitol and Chagrin Cinemas) beginning Jan. 8 will be screening a new film, “Nightshift.”
Not to be confused with 2018 horror film “Nightshift” (or Ron Howard’s ’80s comedy “Night Shift”), director Anne Fontaine’s new suspenseful drama finds three Parisian cops forced to accept an unusual mission to escort a foreigner to the border.
After discovering the prisoner risks death if he returns to his country, one of the officers struggles with the moral dilemma.
