CSCC offers STEAM camps for summer enrichment Summer is just around the corner, and Cleveland State Community College recently announced its annual STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) Camp schedule. This summer’s schedule will include a variety of camps including 3D Design and Print, Balsa Bridge Building, Bucket Drumming, Coding, Digital Media, Girls in Engineering, Imaginative Drawing, Rhythm and Sound, and both Beginner and Intermediate Lego® Robotic Camps. STEAM Camps will be offered at both the main campus, as well as the Monroe County Center. In addition, there will be a virtual musical theater camp this year. “We are excited to offer Summer STEAM Camps again this year,” stated Andrea Byerly, Continuing Education Project coordinator. “These camps provide an opportunity for kids to experience adventure and explore creativity while learning Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math skills. Thursday, April 8, 2021 10:00 am Tony Neves, 79, of Cleveland, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, after suffering several strokes and battling with dementia. Tony was born on June 5, 1941, to Juanita and Lecel in Greenville, S.C. After graduating from Greenville High School in 1964, he studied photography at Greenville Tech, Cleveland State Community College and then Lee University, where he took advantage of the  senior programs and helped many students in their photography studies. He graduated with his master s in photography in 1989. In 1955, he met Nancy Martin, and they wed in 1962, going on to have two children: Ronnie Neves, who married Donna Gregg, and Megan Neves, who  narried Jody Lischewski. Tony had two beloved granddaughters: Chloe Starshine Mize and Lily Temperance Thomas.

Cleveland State Plans Cougar Days Monday, April 5, 2021 In an effort to get students to register early for the fall semester, the Recruiting Department at Cleveland State Community College has been busy scheduling Cougar Days with local high schools.  “Cougar Days enrollment events help prospective students meet with us to discuss enrollment options and schedule planning for next fall,” said Cate Green, director of Admissions, Recruitment, and High School Programs. “We are so excited to connect with our applicants and help them plan for their futures.” All 11 high school schools in the college’s five-county service area will be participating in the upcoming enrollment events designed for traditional students. Each high school will have a designated “Cougar Day” in which students will be able to meet their success coaches, complete advisement and register for the fall semester. The Cougar Days schedule is as follows: 

Blanca Adriana Malschafsky

Blanca Adriana Malschafsky passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2021. She was born in Santiago, Chile, on Dec. 12, 1932. She is survived by her four children: Alejandra (Joe Hoffer), Adriana, Sergio and Andrés Mahnke Malschafsky. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, among them Claudia Hoffer and Johnny Hoffer (Haley Anderson). Since she was a child, Adriana stood out among the best students in school because her father instilled in her the importance of studying. All this led her to enter the University of Chile to study dental surgery. She graduated in 1956, the same year she married the love of her life, Sergio Mahnke.
