The first person to receive the coronavirus vaccine from health officials in Windsor-Essex is a personal support worker who lost her father to COVID-19.
Krystal Meloche, who works at Seasons Belle River retirement home, said she knows her father George would be proud of her today.
WINDSOR, ONT. A local personal support worker was the first in Windsor-Essex to receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine Tuesday morning. Krystal Meloche, who works at Seasons in Belle River, was among the first of those vaccinated for the virus at the St. Clair College Sportsplex. She said COVID-19 took the life of her 73-year old father in mid-June. “I know what he went through and the heartache that we re all going through,” Meloche said. She said she doesn t wish that kind of pain on anyone and hopes residents will take the opportunity to get vaccinated if and when they can.

The long wait for the COVID-19 vaccine is about to end for some Windsor-Essex residents.
Windsor Regional Hospital announced Monday that the first shipment of the Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine has arrived in the region and will vaccinate just under 2,000 people. After training and preparations take place on Monday, vaccinations will start on Tuesday.

The first shipment of COVID-19 vaccines has arrived in Windsor.
Windsor Regional Hospital announced on Monday a limited supply of the Pfizer vaccine was delivered that morning to the St. Clair College SportsPlex by UPS under the guard of Windsor police. Even Santa showed up for the special delivery.
