Officers were called to the 1000 block of Schuster Avenue on reports of a man pointing a firearm at a customer. Before they arrived, police learned that an uninvolved patron inside the business had subdued and disarmed the attacker and was awaiting the officers. Retired MSP Trooper hired to fill BCSD vacancy

COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A retired Michigan State Police trooper from Bronson will be filling a Branch County Sheriff’s Department vacancy. Sheriff John Pollack told the Branch County Board of Commissioners during their work session on Thursday that Michael Thyng has been brought on board to fill in the position that was recently vacated by a newly hired deputy. Thyng retired from the State Police in February of 2020 after being on the job for over 30 years. Pollack also told the Commissioners that due to the shortness of their staffing and some illnesses, they had to pull their transport deputy out of the courthouse and put him out on the road.
