(WTVM) - One person is dead and another person is injured after an alleged robbery attempt in Auburn Sunday evening. Auburn Police Divison arrived to the 300 block of White Street at approximately 4:58 p.m. and discovered two males suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the individuals was transported to East Alabama Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. The other individual was flown to Piedmont Columbus Regional Medical Center by air ambulance with serious injuries.

1 killed, 1 critically wounded during reported Sunday-afternoon robbery in Auburn Updated Feb 28, 2021; One person was killed, and another critically injured during a reported robbery in Auburn Sunday afternoon. The shooting happened sometime after 4 p.m. at a home in the 300 block of White Street. According to police and the Lee County Coroner’s Office, officers were dispatched on a report of shots fire. They arrived to find two males suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims was taken to East Alabama Medical Center where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room at 5 p.m. The other victim was airlifted Columbus Piedmont Midtown Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

EAMC donates land to Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind

In an effort to improve health care for residents of east central Alabama. East Alabama Medical Center has donated a parcel of land in Opelika to the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind (AIDB).Â The land is located on the southeast corner of Dunlop Drive and Waverly Parkway. Construction bids are currently taking place for the 7,900-square-foot facility, and AIDB expects to hold a groundbreaking ceremony in mid-April.Â Â EAMC President and CEO Laura Grill, who serves as secretary on the AIDB Foundation Board of Directors, says helping AIDB open a new location in Opelika will be extremely beneficial to deaf and blind residents throughout the area.Â
