Jordan and Palestine demand international backing against Israel
Amman, Mar 2 (Prensa Latina) Jordan and the Palestinian Authority demand international support against the Israeli violations at the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Both governments issued a joint statement describing excursions by Jews to the Islamic holy site as provocative and disrespectful.
Visits by Israelis violate international law, the legal status and obligations of the occupying power to the site of relevance to Jews, Christians and Muslims, the statement said.
The Temple Mount (Haram al-Sharif) and its surroundings are under Jordanian trust and the Islamic Department of Wakf is the only one authorized to allow visits or tours of the site.
