A district nurse has been honoured with a top award from the Queen’s Nursing Institute.
Leigh Hewitt, a district nurse and clinical educator at East Coast Community Healthcare (ECCH), has been awarded the Philip Goodeve-Docker memorial prize by the Queen’s Nursing Institute.
It is offered to the most outstanding district nursing students in every university in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Alongside his current role, Mr Hewitt studied for the Specialist Practice District Nursing degree course at the University of Suffolk, where his work was recognised as being “exceptional .

A new chief executive has taken over at East Coast Community Healthcare (ECCH) to lead the social enterprise.
Former BT transformation director Ian Hutchison succeeds Jonathan Williams, who is retiring after six years in charge of the social enterprise that is based in Lowestoft and provides NHS community health services across Norfolk and Waveney.
Mr Hutchison said: “I was really attracted by the core values of ECCH. The energy of the team members and their willingness to deal with challenges by looking for a solution that draws on all the skills of the team, rather than individuals, makes me very excited about joining them.

A new chief executive has taken over at East Coast Community Healthcare (ECCH) to lead the social enterprise.
Former BT transformation director Ian Hutchison succeeds Jonathan Williams, who is retiring after six years in charge of the social enterprise that is based in Lowestoft and provides NHS community health services across Norfolk and Waveney.

Cawston Lodge opened last year, but was never used.

A centre where people discharged from hospital can recover from coronavirus is due to reopen in Norfolk - having never been used in the first wave of Covid-19.
Norfolk County Council spent £800,000 to create the step down centre in the former Cawston Lodge care home.
The centre was meant to ease pressure on hospitals and care homes by taking in patients recovering from Covid-19.
But the centre, with capacity for 45 patients, was never used and it was mothballed in August.
Most recently, North Walsham Hospital has been used as the main location for Covid-19 patients discharged from Norfolk hospitals.
