A Congress MLA on Wednesday told the Meghalaya Assembly that some people in his constituency are claiming that crude oil is coming out of the ground in a few villages along the Indo-Bangladesh border and urged the government to inquire into the matter. People have reported that crude oil is coming out from the ground in a few villages in Mawsynram (his constituency), Congress legislator Hima Shangpliang told the Assembly during the general discussion on the regulation of prices of petrol and diesel in the state. The MLA told the government to inquire into this matter and find out the efficacy of this claim by the people and see if Meghalaya could also be in the list of oil producing states in the country.

Shinnyu Village Becomes 1st Solar Electrified Village of Nagaland
The initiative was taken up in a collaboration with the Global Himalayan Expedition which aims in providing clean energy access through solar power.

DIMAPUR: Shinnyu village under the Mon district administration which is considered to be in the remotest part of the district has been electrified with solar power.
According to reports, the district administration along with the Global Himalayan Expedition (GHE) completed the electrification of Shinnyu village using solar power. The Shinnyu village is also considered to be the last village along the Indian Border.

Along with the rest of India, the first phase of COVID vaccination was held in the eight North-eastern states of India. The vaccine doses were mainly administered to frontline health workers with the chief minister of each states flagging off the vaccination drive.
MANIPUR: An attendant of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Imphal was the first person to get the COVID-19 vaccine (Covishield) in Manipur.
Along with Ningombam Romesh of Khurai who was the first person, a total of 1000 healthcare workers were vaccinated after chief minister N Biren Singh launched the historic vaccination drive of COVID-19 vaccine (Covishield) in the state.
