Thirteen laptops and 50 computer desktops will be donated to the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Digital Drive thanks to East Cambridgeshire District Council.
The donation will allow schools to offer computers to students who require them for home learning during lockdown and beyond, while also bolstering classroom supplies for their reopening.
Councillor David Ambrose-Smith, chairman of the operational services committee, said: “After being unable to physically see our friends and family due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen just how important technology can be in connecting people.
They told East Cambs planners: “It is already very congested as there are a lot of vehicles parked on the roads.”

They also raised concerns about noise issues and potential vandalism to the building. I agree there should be some facilities for children and young people in the village but would question whether this is the right location?
Another resident concerned by lack of lighting and anti-social behaviour argued that it would seem inappropriate for this venue to host parties beyond times that young children typically go to bed.

A FOI error has revealed east Cambridgeshire isn’t home to the UK’s noisiest neighbours after all.

Residents in east Cambridgeshire can sleep soundly tonight knowing that the region isn’t home to the UK’s noisiest neighbours.
Earlier this month we reported that those living in the east of the county made the most noise complaints in the entire country.
Bankrate UK provided us with the data from their Freedom of Information request (FOI) to East Cambridgeshire District Council.
It has now been revealed that Bankrate UK had made an error, and east Cambridgeshire doesn’t even rank in the top 10 counties.

Havebury Housing Association submitted their plans for the Brick Lane housing last June but has met with widespread opposition.
Havebury says all 55 homes will be affordable, promising a split of shared ownership and rented.
They claim the six-acre site is ideal to help meet the needs of a district that has a big waiting list for housing.
The housing association quotes correspondence with Kim Langley, of East Cambridgeshire District Council.
Havebury says that confirms the housing need for East Cambridgeshire and Mepal specifically as at June 2019 was 530 applicants in total on the housing register.
