Rother reports another drop in Covid cases but numbers remain extremely high People living in East Sussex have been urged to continue protecting themselves and others after the latest Covid-19 statistics were published. Monday, 1st February 2021, 1:23 pm East Sussex County Council said case numbers across the county are still extremely high in all borough and districts but the rate of infection is continuing to drop in each area. East Sussex s rate of infection for the seven days up to Sunday (January 31) was 309 per 100,000 people – exactly the same rate as reported across England as a whole. In Rother, there were 221 reported cases in those seven days, which is down on the 291 cases reported the week before. The district s rate of infection is now 230 per 100,000 people.

Conman who defrauded Hastings pensioner, 83, sent back to prison

Trading as Regency Paving Company from a premises in Cooden Sea Road, Little Common, Bexhill, Lemmon had told his 83-year-old victim, in 2018, that he needed a new conservatory roof and replacement glass panel, the county council said. He took five cheques from his victim but never started the work, according to the county council. Ombudsman finds against health authorities in East Sussex

The Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman ruled on the case HEALTH authorities in East Sussex have come in for criticism over how they treated a woman with dementia and her daughter. In a recently published report, the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman found against both East Sussex County Council and the East Sussex Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) for how the organisations handled the care arrangements of a woman with Lewy body dementia. The woman, referred to only as Mrs A in the report, was found to be eligible in 2013 to receive Continuing Healthcare (CHC) funded by the CCG.
