Imo Police storm IPOB/ESN camps, arrest commander, recover items

The Joint operatives of the Imo State Police Command, at the weekend, stormed camps of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN), arresting the commander, wounding several of them in a gun duel and recovering several arms/weapons and charms. In a statement, yesterday, by the Media Adviser to the Commissioner of Police in the state, Michael Abattam, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), said the commander of the group provided tips that led to the discovery of the camps. x The camps are located in Izombe, Oguta Council, Atta in Ikeduru Council and Ideato North Council.

Insecurity: Igbo elders petition UN, EU, ECOWAS, UK, China

Views: 477 Members of the Igbo Elders Council have appealed to the international community to intervene and save the South-East region from what it described an ethnic genocide. They alleged that the current military onslaught against the Igbo in an attempt to clamp down on members of the disbanded Indigenous People of Biafra and Eastern Security Network would not bring the much needed peace and stability in the region in particular and Nigeria in general. According to them, the conduct of the security agencies in the South-East and some parts of South-South is in contravention of any known rules of military/security engagement.
