GoFundMe page to raise funds for SEMRA on behalf of Gillian Ryan

Tipp FM Text 083 311 3311 A fundraiser has been launched to raise money for South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association after their search efforts for Gillian Ryan last week. Gillian’s husband Conor has launched a GoFundMe page to raise money for the Clonmel-based group, after her death on the Comeragh Mountains. Gillian, an experienced runner from Horse & Jockey, got into difficulty and SEMRA were among the groups involved in recovering her body in challenging conditions. €14,000 has been raised so far on the GoFundMe page called ‘South Eastern Mountain Rescue on behalf of Gillian’. The local community in Horse and Jockey village near Thurles, Co Tipperary have been left devastated by the loss of Mum-of-two Gillian. Thurles Crokes Athletic Club posted a tribute saying: It is with absolute shock and heartbreak that we announce the untimely passing of our beautiful friend and and athlete Gillian. So full of love and positivity. Running with Gillian made the many miles fly by in laughter and chat.

Gillian Ryan, from Horse & Jockey, Co. Tipperary went missing on Sunday last, after having failed to return home, or make contact with loved ones, hours after she was due to return from a mountain run in the Comneragh Mountains in Co. Waterford. After an extensive search involving the Gardaí, SEMRA, the Coast Guard, civil defense and other organisations, Ms. Ryan’s body was discovered at approx. 6.30 pm on Monday evening

Sadness following discovery of Tipp woman s body on Comeragh Mountains

Tipp FM Text 083 311 3311 Tributes are being paid to the Tipperary woman whose body was found in the Comeragh Mountains in County Waterford yesterday. 37-year-old Gillian Ryan from Horse & Jockey was last seen at lunchtime on Sunday after she went out for a run in the mountains. The mother of two was an experienced runner and a member of Thurles Crokes Athletic Club. A post on the club’s Facebook page describes Gillian as “so full of love and positivity” and goes on to say running with Gillian made the many miles fly by in laughter and chat. The Clonmel based South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association led a multi-agency search which also included the Coastguard helicopter Rescue 117 and the Civil Defence.
