Dec 17, 2020 EAST LIVERPOOL Rick Perez, director of marketing and business development at East Liverpool City Hospital, issued a statement Wednesday disputing a news release from the Ohio Nurses Association saying that some of the ELCH nurses would see a decrease in wages of 8 percent. That statement, Perez wrote “is 100 percent inaccurate. As outlined in the hospital’s last, best and final offer, no bargaining unit registered nurse will receive less than a 1 percent increase in year one of the new contract. The average year one wage increase, over the entire bargaining unit, is approximately 5 percent, with over 43 percent of nurses receiving an increase of 5 percent or more.”

The 5,220 number is an increase of 320 positives since Dec. 11, about 53 new cases a day and down from the 97 cases a day average between Dec. 4 and Dec. 11.

Council members Scott Barrett, John Mercer and Craig Stowers listened as Melissa Cain, a 15-year registered nurse, spoke on behalf of her embattled colleagues’ plight to get a new contract with Prime Healthcare and City Hospital in the midst of a pandemic. Cain, a BSN who is working towards being a nurse practitioner, talked to the committee members at the small gathering about how “overwhelmed” she and her colleagues are with all that is going on with the pandemic and the lack of contract negotiations.

Columbiana County expecting vaccines before Christmas | News, Sports, Jobs

Dec 16, 2020 According to Columbiana County Health Commissioner Wes Vins, M.S., the county is expecting its first round of the Covid-19 vaccine to be shipped before Christmas. “We have not been officially notified as to when the vaccine will arrive and the exact amount, but we expect approximately 1,000 dosesto be allocated to our county in this first round. Our county’s vaccination task force is ramping up our infrastructure so we can quickly send these first doses to hospital caregivers, who are directly on the front lines,” he said. The first shipment to arrive in the county will most likely be the Moderna vaccine, pending FDA approval by the end of this week. The county’s threehealth districts plan on dividing the vaccine supply between East Liverpool City Hospital and Salem Regional Medical Center, for both hospitals to vaccinatetheir frontline workforce as recommended in Ohio’s vaccination plan.
