One person was fatally shot Sunday morning at a Budget Inn in Far East Dallas, police say.
The shooting happened at about 5:11 a.m. in the 12400 block of East Northwest Highway, near Shiloh Road and Interstate 635.

Police said Byron Donnell Ross, 38, was shot and taken by Dallas Fire-Rescue to a local hospital, where he died.

After accident, Dallas neighborhood rallies around Haute Sweets Patisserie and its injured workers

The Nov. 17 incident sent all three to the hospital during the gourmet shop’s busiest season.
But the outpouring of community support that followed has been “overwhelming,” says Pichakron, who operates the business with her husband, Jason Reed.
Neighboring restaurants in Lake Highlands pitched in to clean up. A friend drew the bakery’s logo across the temporary plywood storefront, and people started signing it a testament that the couple ultimately moved to their home a couple of blocks away.
