Halifax Health partners with UF Health to expand urology services

Board-certified surgeons Shawn Thomas, D.O., and Bennett Scaglia, M.D., will lead the program. “We are excited and grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this collaboration between Halifax Health and UF Health,” Scaglia said in a press release. “Our No. 1 goal is to always provide a positive patient experience every day and be the leaders in our community when it comes to urologic care.” Matthew Petkus, vice president of physician services for Halifax Health, said the objective is for the two systems to become the community health-care leader for urology services. “Collaboration between these two programs will establish a urologic service and surgery network that focuses on providing the best possible clinical outcomes and quality for the community; maximizes access to state-of-the-art medical treatment; and assists Halifax in the development and growth of its urology program,” Petkus said in an emailed statement to The News-Journal.
