East Stroudsburg University celebrating graduation virtually

East Stroudsburg University will share graduation messages and a video presentation including student-submitted photos online, since traditional ceremonies can’t take place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A digital copy of a commemorative booklet will also be online, along with messages from Kenneth Long, interim president; Nancy VanArsdale, professor of English and president of ESU’s chapter of the Association of Pennsylvania State Colleges & University Faculties (APSCUF); Christina Steffy, graduate student speaker; and Dushan Chacon, undergraduate student speaker.
The materials can be found at www.esu.edu/celebrate starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19.

K-12 school closures, delays
East Stroudsburg Area School District is already on fully remote learning, but will give students the day off Thursday. The East Stroudsburg Area School District will be CLOSED on Thursday, December 17, 2020 due to Winter Storm Gail, the district posted on Facebook. Therefore, there will be no school meal services, remote instruction or transportation services for any students tomorrow. The missed school day will be made up at the end of the school year.
Stroudsburg superintendent Cosmas Curry announced SASD s closure on Wednesday night, but noted that students would still be logging in for an asynchronous day of learning. Please follow the procedures laid out by your principals, Curry wrote. I appreciate your resilience through this atypical school year.

Elon University celebrated the accomplishments of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program’s Class of 2020 on Saturday, Dec. 12 during its Commencement ceremony. The event recognized the triumph and perseverance of these 45 new Elon graduates as they completed their academic and clinical work with the added challenge of learning and practicing health care during a global pandemic.
In her commencement address, Dean Gail Jensen from the Graduate School and College of Professional Studies at Creighton University encouraged the new graduates to develop habits of not just the head and the hand, but of the heart.
