The badly decomposed body of a woman was found in a dumpster in East Stroudsburg on Thursday. Author: Courtney Harrison Updated: 7:55 PM EDT July 23, 2021
Investigators are still trying to piece together exactly how a woman s body ended up in a dumpster.
Police in Monroe County are asking for the public s help for information on who the woman could be and how her body ended up in a dumpster.
The body was discovered around 1:30 p.m. Thursday on Washington Street in East Stroudsburg.
Officials in Monroe County say they haven t been able to identify the woman yet because the body is so badly decomposed. The only information about the woman we know is that she appeared to be wearing denim shorts and a black shirt.
A woman s body was found in an East Stroudsburg dumpster Thursday.
Monroe County Coroner Tom Yanac was unable to say how old the female appeared to be, or in what condition her body is in. She was found beneath the contents of a dumpster in the lot next to Salvation Army on Washington Street.
Stroud Area Regional Police officers were dispatched to the scene shortly before noon. Gloved officers and a trooper from the Pennsylvania State Police forensics unit roped off the lot, consulting with the coroner and keeping passerby at bay over the course of the afternoon. Men wearing white coveralls wheeled the body into a black SUV from the coroner s office at 4:30 p.m.
