Riverview Community Action Corp food bank accepting donations
The food bank at Riverview Community Action Corp in Oakmont serves people in need who live in Oakmont and Verona.
Donations of jelly, kid-friendly cereal, pasta sauce, noodles, rice, tuna and $10 Giant Eagle gift cards can be dropped off from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays at the center, 501 Second St. Residents in need should call 412-828-1062.

Christopher’s Light seeking volunteers
Children’s charity Christopher’s Light is seeking casual volunteers to help with the organization’s daily activities.
Volunteers must commit to a minimum of two hours per week with flexible days and hours, over 18 years old and able to pass clearances.
Penn State Extension offers mental health webinar
Leechburg Area School District has a new school board member.
Teresa Edinger, 51, of Leechburg, was appointed during a virtual Zoom meeting Monday night. She replaces Lisa Gregory, who resigned Dec. 9 with one year remaining on her term.
Edinger previously was employed by the district as business office manager for almost seven years and is currently the assistant business manager at Kiski Area School District.
A Leechburg native who graduated from Leechburg Senior High School in 1987, Edinger said she is “excited” about her new role.
“Working in a business office gives me knowledge of budgeting, taxes and retirement costs,” Edinger said. “I want the district to flourish.”

Superheroes Believe in Miracles, a charity that serves children facing illness, disability or limitations is selling 2021 calendars that feature 13 children dressed up as their favorite superhero.
