Hadassah Chicago North Shore (CNS) will hold its 8th annual Power Lunch, moderated by Hadassah Magazine Executive Editor Lisa Hostein and featuring special guests Gabby Giffords and Giffords Law Center Executive Director Robyn Thomas, on Thursday, May 6 from 11:30 AM -1:00 PM (CST). Hostein will lead Giffords and Thomas in a conversation on gun control safety and the ways and means to make our communities safer for all. Long-time Hadassah CNS volunteer Lana Eisenberg, President of Hadassah Highland Park, will be honored for her 50+ years of service to the Zionist women s organization which has over 11,000 members in the Chicagoland area and 40,000 members in the Hadassah Midwest Geographic Region. After the U.S. Supreme Court announced Monday it will hear a 2
nd Amendment case on the right to carry a firearm outside the home, a journalist who follows gun-rights issues predicts a major ruling is coming.
The justices announced the court will review a lower-court ruling that upheld New York’s restrictive gun permit law, which means the high court will take up its first 2nd Amendment case since Barack Obama’s first term.

Proponents, including some law enforcement leaders, have said the reforms could reduce gun deaths. Critics have said the changes would do little to stop rising homicides while burdening law-abiding gun owners, especially as a surging number of residents apply to own firearms.
Of the eight proposals, seven have previously been considered by lawmakers. Three passed the state Assembly in previous sessions, but none made it through the Senate. Both chambers would have to approve each proposal in the current session to make it to the governor’s desk.
