The Lower Post Residential School was once used as a post office and band office, and will be torn down and replaced by a multi-use building. The project will cost $13.5-million in funding, the bulk of which is coming from the federal government. The provincial government, as well as the Daylu Dena Council, is also contributing funding. Premier John Horgan says when he walked into the residential school building in 2019, he saw the pain and trauma it caused. He says he hopes the new community centre will be “a place of healing, hope, and well-being.”
