Gujarat billion-dollar club grows bigger at 22 | Ahmedabad News

Representative image AHMEDABAD: Gujarat’s billion-dollar-plus market cap club has grown bigger on the back of stock markets rally since last June. The number of listed companies having m-cap of more than a billion dollar (approximately Rs 7,532 crore) has now increased to 22 from 17 within a year since April 2020. Although the equity indices have turned volatile currently amid growing cases of Covid-19 cases and its impact on various sectors, bull run on bourses since June last year has helped Gujarat-based companies enter the coveted billion-dollar club, said stock analysts. According to analysis of the Gujarati firms listed on BSE, the entities that made it to the billion-dollar (one billion dollar is approximately Rs 7,532 crore considering the value of rupee against dollar at 75.32) m-cap club in past one year are Deepak Nitrite Limited, Ratnamani Metals and Tubes Ltd, Gujarat Fluorochemicals Limited, Symphony Ltd and Eris Lifesciences Limited.

Oil and Gas stocks edge lower

Oil and Gas stocks were trading in red, with the S&P BSE Oil&Gas index decreasing 24.13 points or 0.16% at 14779.73 at 13:49 IST. Among the components of the S&P BSE Oil&Gas index, Reliance Industries Ltd (down 0.92%), Castrol India Ltd (down 0.72%),Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (down 0.6%),Gujarat State Petronet Ltd (down 0.3%),Oil & Natural Gas Corpn Ltd (down 0.19%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Indraprastha Gas Ltd (down 0.15%), and GAIL (India) Ltd (down 0.04%). On the other hand, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (up 0.5%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 0.28%), and Petronet LNG Ltd (up 0.13%) turned up. At 13:49 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 51.02 or 0.1% at 49108.3.
