Shame premiere video for new single Nigel Hitter
Shame have got Drunk Tank Pink ready for January 15th.
Just over a week out from release, Shame have posted another piece of their second album, one of its ‘vital organs’ according to Charlie Steen.
“A necessary pulse,” he says of Nigel Hitter. “Focused on daily routine, repetition, and how extraordinary any ordinary task seemed to me after coming home from touring. A world of percussion and joy lies within.”
There’s been a generous amount to pore over since Shame finally rubber-stamped their follow-up to 2018’s Songs Of Praise in November, arguably peaking last time out when Snow Day was released in December.

Shame have dropped a new single, Nigel Hitter.
The track finds the London band continuing to evolve from the post-punk sound on 2018 s Songs Of Praise with more punchy guitars and skewed rhythms. It comes paired with a deepfake video directed by Maxim Kelly, viewable below.
Nigel Hitter will appear along with their previously shared cuts Alphabet, Water in the Well and Snow Day on the quintet s forthcoming second LP, Drunk Tank Pink , out on January 15 via Dead Oceans. Lead singer Charlie Steen said: The song is at the heart of what Drunk Tank Pink is about. After we finished touring I was left with a lot of silence as I stumbled around trying to figure out the daily routine. On top of that, I was confronting my subconscious at night through a series of intense dreams which left me in a daze during the day. Nigel Hitter feels like a cathartic expression of that period.

The government says it tried to secure better conditions for UK touring musicians during the Brexit negotiations, but its proposals were rejected by the EU.
The comments come in response to a petition - signed by stars like Ronan Keating, KT Tunstall, Gary Kemp and Tim Burgess - calling for visa-free travel around Europe for artists and crews.
The petition, which has now amassed more than 200,000 signatures, will be debated in parliament, the government confirmed.
From 1 January, the free movement of people between the UK and the EU will end. Touring musicians and their technical crews will face new rules, and could be subject to additional visa costs and paperwork.
