JUSTICE MINISTER HELEN McEntee will take six months paid maternity leave from 30 April.
Speaking in the Dáil this afternoon, the Taoiseach announced that the government would facilitate the minister’s maternity leave.
Minister McEntee will become a minister without a portfolio, and Minister Heather Humphreys will temporarily hold the position of Minister for Justice as well as her existing role.
The last day of April this year will see the introduction of the country’s first Minister without portfolio. Justice Minister Helen McEntee will assume the role as she takes paid maternity leave for six months before returning to her own position in six months’ time.

The Government is “committed” to finding a way to allow Justice Minister Helen McEntee to take maternity leave without having to resign, Taoiseach Micheál Martin said yesterday.
