Louisiana Citizens Property Insurance Corp. (“LCPIC”), has released a new request for proposals for vendors to service insurance claims after a catastrophe, such as in response to a hurricane.
Proposals from applicants can be submitted on any of five distinct Service Categories; (A) Primary Catastrophe Claims Administration Services, (B) Secondary Catastrophe Claims Administration Services, (C) Catastrophe Independent Adjusting Services, (D) Catastrophe Desk Adjusting Services, and (E) Catastrophe First Notice of Loss Call Center Services. Unemployed Floridians finding difficulty to release unemployment benefits from hold
Many unemployed Floridians claim a months-old problem has yet to be fixed, and it is keeping them from collecting unemployment benefits. Thousands jobless Floridians currently have a “return to work hold.” The hold often occurs after someone gets a new job or, in some cases, just applies for one. Unemployment expert Vanessa Brito said the hold is not a glitch, but an obstacle. “The company has to report to the Department of Revenue, Brito said. Florida’s Citizens Ends Moratorium on Cancellations, Nonrenewals
After extending the moratorium on cancellations and nonrenewals put into place at the start of the pandemic, Citizens Property Insurance Corp. has announced it will resume processing these as of Feb. 1, 2021.
The Florida insurer of last resort said in a bulletin to agents that the board of governors at its December meeting approved lifting the temporary moratorium established in March 2020 to ease the burden on policyholders due to the COVID-19 health risk.
Cancellations and nonrenewals for policies that had exceptions made due to the COVID-19 health risk will be processed on Feb. 1. After that date, Citizens will only make hardship exceptions to those policyholders who continue to be affected by loss of employment, diminished wages or business income, or other monetary loss realized during the state of emergency and directly impacting the ability of the policyholder to make payments.
