Candidate Challenges Opponents To Join The Pledge To Reopen Schools

Min featuring Julie Gunlock, Director of Center for Progress and Innovation at IWF Virginia businessman and Republican candidate for governor Pete Snyder is challenging all statewide office-seekers to sign his pledge to reopen schools held hostage by teachers unions. “Nothing has united Republican, Democrat, and Independent families in Virginia more than the need for our children to be back in school,” Snyder said in a statement Monday. “Unfortunately, career politicians beholden to special interest and teachers unions have kept students out of the classroom.” … Snyder’s push to put school openings front and center in the statewide race is welcome news to parents fighting for their children’s return to the classroom.

Here are a few highlights: “Two out of three Virginia voters (67%) say 2021 will be better than 2020.” 92% of Democrats believe that, compared to 70% of Independents and just 33% of Republicans. “President Joe Biden’s approval rating sits at 57%, and he receives his highest marks for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic (67% approve to 25% disapprove).”  Among Democrats, Biden’s approval is at 94%, diametrically different than just 11% among Republicans. “A majority of Virginia voters say Biden’s election was legitimate (68%), but one out of four say it was not (26%).” 100% of Democrats say Biden won legitimately, 67%-19% of Independents and…in the upside-down world, only 27% of Republicans. Pathetic.

The community is still in my heart. It’s where I was born and bred and its why I’m running for governor. Because so many politicians have made false promises that have left communities like Petersburg, Pulaski and Portsmouth behind, Carroll Foy said.  The wealthy and well-connected have a lot of reputation in Richmond, but now is our time. When I say our, I say the community that has been put aside and marginalized.
