The press service of the upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament told BelTA that on 21 December the Senate of the U.S. Congress approved an act on Belarus, which represents a heavy-handed interference in Belarus' domestic affairs in violation of the Charter of the United Nations Organization.

MINSK, 22 December (BelTA) – Friendly relations between Belarus and Armenia will be maintained and developed, Natalya Kochanova, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, said as she met with outgoing Ambassador of Armenia to Belarus Armen Ghevondyan, BelTA has learned.
“I want to thank you for constructive work in Belarus, and, of course, for your contribution to the development of bilateral relations between our countries. You have really done a lot over the years, arranged meetings of our heads of state, telephone conversations among other things, to strengthen friendship between our peoples and promote cooperation in various areas,” Natalya Kochanova noted.

In response to the brutality of the Belarusian authorities and in support of the democratic rights of the Belarusian people, the Council today decided to adopt 36 additional designations
peaceful demonstrators, opposition members and
journalists, among others. They also target economic actors, prominent businessmen and companies benefiting from and/or supporting the regime of Aleksandr Lukashenko.
This decision aims to send a powerful message to the responsible political and economic actors that their support to the regime comes at a cost.
