Why Biden’s Immigration Bill Is the Boldest in Decades
During his campaign, President Biden promised that immigration reform would be one of his top priorities upon taking office. After unveiling the summary of a sweeping immigration reform bill on Inauguration Day, the Biden administration appears to have kept that promise.
If passed, the bill will provide a pathway to legal status for most of the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants currently living in the United States.
In addition to the legalization component, the Biden administration’s bill also contains three other legislative pillars: reforming the immigration court system, overhauling management of U.S. borders, and addressing the root causes of undocumented migration to the United States.

Bill advances to limit trans youth health care in Montana
By IRIS SAMUELSJanuary 22, 2021 GMT
HELENA, Mont. (AP) The Montana House Judiciary Committee voted Friday to advance a bill that would ban gender-confirming health care for transgender minors.
Proponents of the bill say it would defend trans children from life-altering medical procedures they cannot fully consent to. Opponents say it would harm trans youth.
The bill passed mostly along party lines, with Republican Rep. Mallerie Stromswold, a recent high school graduate, joining all committee Democrats in opposing the measure.
The bill was voted up by the committee one day after they passed a measure that would prohibit transgender youth from participating in sports according to the gender with which they identify.
