Republican Minority Leader Sen. Chris Duenas said it’s almost impossible for the Legislature to pass a budget for the next fiscal year without knowing how the administration plans to us American Rescue Plan funds. The Legislature met with Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero to discuss policy priorities back in May, but a draft plan for the money wasn’t provided to lawmakers. Leon Guerrero has the final authority over the money, but Duenas wants to see a draft of her plans. There was some guesswork involved in figuring how she would spend it, he said. “We have had several agencies that have come before the Legislature that have given us some hard numbers, public health $17 million, the hospital $10 million,” he said.
