As House Nears Impeaching Trump, US Senate Republicans Mull Starting Trial by Friday

As the US House of Representatives neared a vote on Wednesday to impeach President Donald Trump, Republican leaders in the Senate weighed whether to launch a trial on Friday to consider removing him from office, a source familiar with the deliberations said, though no final decision has been reached.

Democrats eye letting impeachment articles sit in Senate for months to give Biden opening

Print this article The U.S. House appears all but certain this week to pass at least one impeachment article against President Trump, but the Democratic leadership may not send it to the Senate right away. At least one top Democrat suggested the House could sit on the impeachment article for several months, clearing the deck for incoming President Joe Biden and a new Democratic majority in the Senate and their top agenda priorities, which include additional coronavirus recovery aid. Local Trump backers who were at Capitol reject violent attack

Some Comal County residents who were at the nation’s Capitol last week in support of Donald Trump said they didn’t expect the violence that unfolded and spoke out against those who smashed windows and beat police officers. The supporters marched to the Capitol as members of the House and Senate were certifying the outcome of the 2020 presidential election for Joe Biden who will be sworn in on Jan. 20. Trump Train NB Founder Steve Ceh said he and a small group of Trump Train members were among those outside the Capitol.  “There were people from all over Texas, we saw lots of Texas flags,” Ceh said.
