Several prominent health experts, as well as Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) and members of the state s congressional delegation, have been calling on the Biden administration to send additional vaccine doses to their state amid a worrying spike in cases and hospitalizations there. Republicans Maneuver to Keep Control of KY Senate Seat

PUBLISHED 9:04 PM ET Apr. 08, 2021 PUBLISHED 9:04 PM EDT Apr. 08, 2021 SHARE WASHINGTON, D.C. At 79-years-old, Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, who has held his Senate seat since 1985, said he has no plans to retire. I don t think we are going to have a vacancy. I m not going anywhere. I just got elected to a six-year term and I m still the leader of my party in the Senate, said McConnell at a news conference in Kentucky earlier this week. But if he were to have a change of heart, the Republican-led Kentucky state legislature has secured a veto-proof measure that blocks Democratic Governor Andy Beshear s ability to pick a replacement for Senator McConnell or junior Senator Rand Paul in the event of a vacancy.
