Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) comments Tuesday indicate he would likely back the $1.2 trillion so-called infrastructure bill, according to a
Washington Post reporter.
McConnell said Tuesday that he would encourage his Republican colleagues to oppose Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s (D-NY) efforts to end the amendment debate Tuesday on the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill.
“Slow and steady wins the race,” McConnell said.
Ending debate on amendments would allow for the Senate to file cloture on the bipartisan infrastructure bill, putting it dangerously close to a full vote on the Senate floor.
The leading Senate Republican signaled that he would likely vote to pass the infrastructure bill.

Pelosi Shuts Capitol Police Union Out of January 6th Committee
28 Jul 2021
The head of the United States Capitol Police union Gus Papathanasiou on Wednesday urged House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to allow more officers to testify to the select committee investigating the events of January 6th, arguing the problems that day were actually “years” in the making which could reflect poorly on her leadership as House speaker.
“Poor morale, inequitable pay and conditions, and a leadership that refuses to engage – these are contributing factors to the events of January 6th and they remain factors still, today,” he said in a statement. “The Union asks that the Committee listen to the active-duty police officers who have been chosen by the rank and file to represent them.”

ANTI-MASKERS DISRUPT WAKE SCHOOL BOARD MEETING: Seven of 10 speakers urged Wake school board members to make masks optional when students return, and at least a dozen more cheered them from a nearby room as they watched the meeting via a live feed, chanting, “No more masks!” “Little children can’t see smiles,” said Chanel Marshall, a mental health therapist, her voice breaking. “Little children are dying. They are having suicidal thoughts. I deal with these students every single day. Children need to have these masks removed. It’s not OK.” But the bulk of Tuesday night’s speakers opposed them outright, and some on the anti-mask side yelled from the audience as school board member Jim Martin read statistics from the Department of Health and Human Services. This drew two warnings from board Chairman Keith Sutton, and one audience member was led from the room before the meeting ended.
