Unveiled: Rwanda Governance Scorecard 7th Edition

Taarifa Rwanda Published 4 months ago The 7 th edition of the Rwanda Governance Scorecard (RGS) has been unveiled today at the Kigali Convention Centre. The event is attended by officials from government institutions, private sector, Civil Society Organisatons, research and higher learning institutions, Development partners’ agencies. According to the Rwanda Governance Board, this 7 th edition Scorecard is built on 8 pillars, 35 indicators and 136 variables. Its methodology builds on global indicators and relies on local data, including administrative data, perception and expert surveys. “All the pillars recorded an improvement Compared to the previous edition. Safety and Security continues to lead with a score of 95.44%. Participation and Inclusiveness attained the highest improvement rate of 8.96%,” says RGB.

By Anna Chibamu UNITED Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator for Zimbabwe Maria Ribeiro has bemoaned the impact of Covid-19 in the country where over 4.6 million learners failed to attend school as the scourge ravaged communities and learning institutions countrywide. The disease that was seemingly slowing down in some regions across the world, has resurfaced with warnings from health experts that the second wave was deadlier than the first. This has led to some governments imposing strict lockdown measures during the Festive Season. As the world celebrated the 72nd anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights last week, the global roadmap for protecting the social, economic, political and cultural rights of every individual, Ribeiro in a statement, noted that measures taken by authorities to curb the spread of the disease had impacted negatively on the human rights issues in the country and elsewhere.
