Resident Evil 4 Is Getting A VR Overhaul On Oculus Quest 2
It s not the long-rumored RE4 Remake, but we are getting a new virtual reality version of the action game classic.
Resident Evil 4 is coming back but not the way you might have expected. The classic third-person action game is getting reworked for virtual reality, coming in as a first-person shooter for the Oculus Quest 2 VR headset.
Capcom announced the new version of RE4 at its 25th Anniversary Resident Evil Showcase, where it gave a look at the gameplay we can expect when RE4 jumps to virtual reality. Where the original game was played from a third-person perspective, you ll take on the role of Leon in first-person, using the Quest 2 s motion controls to do things like pick up and manipulate objects, aim and fire your gun, and slice through enemies with your combat knife.

Resident Evil 4 in VR actually exists and is coming to Oculus Quest 2. Capcom officially announced the title, which was previously only rumored to be in development, during its second Resident Evil Showcase today. Thankfully, we got more than just the announcement, as the presentation gave us a few quick glimpses at gameplay. This VR version of the third-person survival-horror classic looks to be a faithful recreation of the original, just with a bit more knife juggling. Resident Evil Showcase today, Capcom revealed some details about the next media installments in the franchise, specifically Netflix’s original CGI series
Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, as well as some more info about the live-action reboot that will be based on the first two games in the lineup.
We’ve known for a while that Netflix has a CGI series based on the hit horror game in the pipeline. The company previously released a teaser image to give fans an idea about the art style they can expect, but some details have remained absent over the past few months. That changed with Capcom’s showcase today.
The Resident Evil Franchise is one of many gaming properties set to be adapted as a series on Netflix. Just recently, we got the Infinite Darkness subtitle for the upcoming anime. Now, we’ve received the first full trailer for Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness as a part of the latest Resident Evil Showcase.
As we learned earlier this year, the Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness animated series is set in Washington D.C., specifically at the White House. The new trailer and discussion at the Resident Evil Showcase shined more light on the series’ story. The show is set in the year 2006, four years after the event of Resident Evil 2. The voices of Leon and Claire from Resident Evil 2 Remake have both returned to reprise their roles for the show.
