NAFDAC Urges MSMEs to Use AfCFTA to Boost Economy

Onyebuchi Ezigbo in Abuja The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has asked the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Nigeria to take advantage of the Africa Continental Free Trade Zone Area (AfCFTA) agreement to expand their business frontiers and enter the global market. The Director-General of the agency, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, said the agency is determined to encourage the businesses to key into the initiative. According to her, this will help to fast-track the much expected transformation of the Nigerian economy. A statement signed by the Resident Media Consultant, Sayo Akintola, yesterday, quoted Adeyeye as having made the assertion during a sensitisation webinar on the roles of NAFDAC in the implementation of Africa Continental Free Trade Area AfCFTA agreement last Friday.

NAFDAC Closes Six Companies over Substandard Drugs

By Onyebuchi Ezigbo The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has shut down six local manufacturers of finished pharmaceutical products for producing substandard pharmaceutical products. A statement issued yesterday by the Resident Media Consultant, Mr. Sayo Akintola, quoted the Director General of NAFADC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, as saying that the pharmaceutical companies were shut down following a nationwide surveillance on their manufacturing activities. She expressed dismay that in spite of appropriate notification the companies failed to meet minimum Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards in line with extant requirements which are required to assure the quality, safety and efficacy of pharmaceutical products.

Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, director general of the Agency, said this in a statement by Mr Sayo Akintola, Resident Media Consultant, NAFDAC, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday, in Abuja.
